Portmore Missionary Church is its 26th year as a local fellowship. It is located in the largest human settlement area in the Caribbean. Its 26th year is the start of the third Millenium. This is a time of transition for the Jamaican society, many persons are experiencing personal difficulties: There is the erosion and loss of income, there is the real threat and fear of violence. And there is a personal uncertainty born out of the rapid changes which have come both on the social and economic fronts which have eroded any ground of certainty and stability.

Peter's message to the scattered exiles in Asia, Christians in the diaspora, has a word to us today. It is, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has begotten us again to a living hope by the resurrection of the dead." (I Pt. 1:3) Peter's word reminds us that the Christian's hope was never founded on the propitiousness of material circumstances. It was always based on The Word and reality of God who is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. We face the third millenium knowing that God is active in our lives, in our world and in our future.We face the future knowing that it is in the crucible of struggle and adversity that hope is born and character is formed.

During this year, the church intends to build a new sanctuary which can seat 700 persons and to expand the physical facilities of the Prep-School. It also proposes to target the community in a deliberate way. We anticipate your prayers and your partnership.
